About the course

There is an art to giving feedback in a constructive way, whether it is so-called positive or negative. Many people find it difficult to both “give feedback” and “receive feedback”. Will the other person hear what I say as criticism? What will be the other person's reaction?
Many people have had a negative experience of receiving feedback. Others may feel that it becomes a stressful judgement. We may feel that someone exercising power over us is taking away some of our autonomy. We may want to enrich each other's lives and learn together how we can contribute to the communities and organisations we are part of.

So how can we make feedback safer and more meaningful, both for the receiver and the sender?
What can we say to ensure that our feedback is received by the other person?
During this workshop we want to give you tools and inspiration on how to give and receive feedback.

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is also known as contact-making communication. This form of communication supports us to develop relationships based on mutual respect, compassion and co-operation that enable everyone's needs to be met. NVC also supports us to become aware of how to break negative thought patterns that can lead to conflict, anger and depression, and instead manage conflict in ways that strengthen ourselves and our relationships; personally or professionally, nationally or internationally.

Workshop 1: 7 November
Why can feedback be so difficult? Both giving and receiving, how do we manage our own and others' stress response? We use the NVC model as a starting point.

Workshop 2: 14 November
Different ways of listening. We look at how criticism, judgement and interpretation can get in the way of connection and alternative ways of expressing ourselves and listening to others.

Workshop 3: 21 November
Why don't they do as I say? We focus on formulating requests that connect here and now and to move forward within a shared purpose.

Workshop 4: 28 November
How do we give feedback that gets through? Positive feedback loop. Timing of giving feedback. Appreciation.

The course is for those who want to:

  • Strengthen your relationships by giving and receiving feedback: whether at home with your loved ones or at work with colleagues and clients.
  • Connect on a deeper level: instead of criticising or judging when you want to see a change in someone's behaviour, use language that promotes connection, mutual learning, trust and understanding.
  • Creating effective and efficient collaborations: where people experience transparency, meaning, fulfilment and authenticity.

Kristiina Krank has over 30 years of experience working in the health sector and is a registered specialist nurse and Certified Trainer in Nonviolent Communication (NVC). She has organised NVC workshops both on site and online. In 2019 she co-organised a 9-day international training in NVC, an IIT (International Intensive Training) in Stockholm with over 60 participants. 2020 she was one of the founders of “Föreningen Nonviolent Communication i Sverige” where she has been strongly involved. She sits on the board as treasurer. Participants usually describe her approach as educational, methodical, interesting and thought-provoking. She explains the NVC tools through clear examples and situations from everyday life. Giving participants opportunities for insights and more tools to manage themselves and others is important to Kristiina. Kristiina has an ability to create a lot of safety in the room, which contributes to space for reflection, aha experiences and transformations of old behavioural patterns so that new more constructive choices can be made.

Marika Christiansson is a certified trainer in NVC since 2020. She is originally from Holland, has lived in different countries and now lives in Laholm, Halland. She loves languages, learning new things and discovering how wonderful we humans are. She cares about nature and works for a living and healthy planet that is a wonderful place for us to be part of. With her husband Göran, she runs the company Framtidskultur Halland AB, including a nursery with nut trees to contribute to a different food system. You can find us at framtidskultur.se. She has been a trainer, coach and teacher with a background in law, stress management and co-operation for more than 20 years. Participants in courses experience her as open, inspiring and competent.

Together they are both NVC certified. They love to develop both themselves and contribute to the development of others. They complement each other with their professional backgrounds,
physical and mental health, consciousness development/adult development and in the field of law, schools, education, social work and workplace development.
When we see how NVC can help us with challenging everyday situations in our life, or increase joy and gratitude, we are often curious to learn more about NVC.

A warm welcome to you!
